A note on dye results

Dyeing existing pieces always involves some unpredictability. Original color, stains, wear, fiber content, construction, repairs, coatings, trims, and prior treatments can all affect the final result.

Even items labeled 100% cotton, silk, wool, or cashmere can dye unevenly or in unexpected ways. Thread, elastic, zippers, buttons, linings, labels, embroidery, and synthetic trims may stay the original color or shift differently than the main fabric.

Stains may be covered, softened, or transformed, but they may still remain visible after dyeing. Fading, sun damage, bleach marks, and invisible finishes can also affect how the dye settles.

Because we’re working with finished pieces we didn’t make, we can’t guarantee a specific color, coverage level, or perfectly even result. We’ll use our best judgment with each piece, but dyeing is a transformation process, not a restoration service. Purchasing this service means you understand that unexpected results are possible and are part of the nature of overdyeing.
